Throughout history, the subject of God and His interaction with humankind has captivated the artist. The artist, through stone, paints, words, melodies, and the creative image of God imprinted in us all, has attempted to capture the unfathomable God. Just as Jesus revealed the Father to us through stories that we could understand, so too the artist seeks to give us a glimpse of the inscrutable God.
To the right (as well as above) are a few examples of how the arts can be used to focus a congregation on certain aspects of God's character or acts. The painting just one of over 20 pieces that our congregation produced surrounding the themes of Advent. They hung in the sanctuary to remind us of God's character throughout the season.
Above is a 25' banner that ten people came together to create for the day, and season of Pentecost.
The audio clips are excerpts from and "reader's theatre" Tenebrae service.
